Our Why

This run was never about the finish line.

Gadsden County is one of one — the only predominantly African American county in the state of Florida. It's a place rich in history, family, and faith. But like too many communities across the country, ours has carried more than its share of health challenges.

So we decided to do something about it — together, and on our feet. The Gadsden 5K Run was created as a catalyst: a joyful, welcoming reason for neighbors to get outside, get moving, and take one shared step toward a healthier Gadsden County.

“This is not a race you win. It's a morning you'll never forget — with people who feel like family, because most of them are.”

  • Not competitive. Walk it, jog it, dance it — crossing the start line is the victory.
  • Radically inclusive. First-timers, kids, grandparents, strollers, and wheelchairs all belong here.
  • Bigger than a run. Every registration supports the Sow-A-Seed Foundation's work in our community.

The Founders

Started by two attorneys.
Carried by a whole county.

The Gadsden 5K Run is the heart project of Gee & Lee, Attorneys at Law — a firm that has always believed its duty to Gadsden County goes far beyond the courtroom.

They started this run to shine a positive light on the county they love and to spark a movement toward better health and awareness — then invited everyone: the City of Quincy, the Sow-A-Seed Foundation, local sponsors, cheer squads, and hundreds of neighbors who now lace up every spring.

see you in 2027…

The third annual run is coming.

Registration for the 2027 Gadsden 5K Run hasn't opened yet — we're still catching our breath from this year. When it does, sign-up will happen on RunSignUp, right where it always has.

Registration typically opens in early January. Early-bird pricing has started at just $15.

Good To Know

Questions? We've got you.

Do I have to be a runner to join?

Absolutely not — and honestly, most of us aren't. This is a non-competitive community event. Walk, stroll, jog, push a stroller, roll a wheelchair, or dance the whole route. The 1-mile fun run/walk is a perfect starting point, and the 5K welcomes every pace. If it's your first event ever, you're exactly who we built this for.

Where does the race happen?

In beautiful Quincy, Florida. Both routes start and finish near Corey Field (1400 W King Street) and wind through Quincy's oak-lined neighborhoods and historic downtown, with water stations and sponsored mile markers along the way.

How much does it cost?

Pricing is set each year on RunSignUp, but it's built to be accessible — early-bird registration has started at just $15, with group discounts for teams of five or more. Your entry includes an event t-shirt, race bib with timing, a finisher medal, and food and refreshments.

Where does the money go?

The Gadsden 5K Run is a nonprofit event benefiting the Sow-A-Seed Foundation, hosted by Gee & Lee in partnership with the City of Quincy. Your registration goes right back into the community.

Can I bring my kids? My grandma? My whole church?

Yes, yes, and please do. Kids, elders, strollers, wheelchairs, team shirts, matching costumes — the more of Gadsden County out there, the better. Group registration makes it easy to bring everyone.

When is the next run?

The 3rd Annual Gadsden 5K Run is planned for spring 2027 — recent editions have been held on a Saturday morning in April. Watch this site and our RunSignUp page for the official date and registration opening.
